Foreign students at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) displayed the rich culture of their respective countries at a cultural day celebration organised by the Office of International Relations (OIR-UCC).
The colourful event saw students from some African countries such as Nigeria, Botswana, Kenya, South Africa, Ivory Coast among others, display their national colours whilst clad in their native clothes to showcase their countries' rich cultural heritage. The event was also to foster African unity.
It was an exciting scene as the students hoisted their national flags, engaged in spoken word about their respective countries, as well as cooking local dishes of their countries.

The Acting Dean of the OIR-UCC, Dr. Bert Kusi Boadi, indicated that the Office had liaised with the Design Thinking and Innovative Hub (D-Hub) to enable the students learn soft skills to be fully-fledged graduates.

The Provost of the College of Education Studies, Prof Ernest Kofi Davis, who chaired the event, said international students played a key role in the development and growth of world class universities.
He admitted that foreign students in UCC played a remarkable role in the feat chalked up in the Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings.
Prof Davis described the international students as ambassadors of UCC as such the University would ensure their absolute comfort during their stay on campus.

"We believe that once they feel at home, then they will become a conduit to market the UCC to the International community," he added.
He encouraged Ghanaian students to patronize the OIR-UCC.
Some of the international Students who spoke with University reporters said it was crucial to display ones culture to show ones identity and way of life.
