The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has officially opened applications for admission to a complete online postgraduate programme under its newly launched eCampus platform.
The eCampus platform offers more than 36 fully online accredited postgraduate programmes, expanding access to world-class education for professionals, entrepreneurs, educators, researchers, leaders and career-focused graduates in Ghana and beyond seeking flexible, technology-driven learning opportunities.
Prospective applicants can apply for admission through ecampus.ucc.edu.gh.
Speaking at a press conference, the Chairman of the University Governing Council, Justice William Anaam Atuguba (rtd.), described the initiative as timely and transformational.
He observed that the world had become a global village where technology was redefining education, stressing that universities could no longer rely solely on traditional methods of teaching and learning.
Justice Atuguba commended the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Denis Worlanyo Aheto, and the University Management for successfully implementing the initiative, noting that the Vice-Chancellor had begun the process while serving in an acting capacity.
He expressed optimism that the eCampus would significantly enhance UCC's global competitiveness and position the University as a leader in digital higher education.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Denis Worlanyo Aheto, said the eCampus project formed the fourth strategic thrust of his vision to transform UCC into a globally competitive institution through digitalisation and internationalisation.
Tracing the genesis of the project, Prof. Aheto said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in March 2026 to pave the way for the implementation of the project. He described the eCampus as a bold and forward-looking initiative that would broaden the University's international reach and strengthen its reputation as Ghana's leading institution of higher learning.
According to Prof. Aheto, the platform was expected to enrol an initial average of 10,000 students while creating opportunities for professionals across the world to access UCC's quality academic programmes without geographical barriers.
He announced that all programmes available on the eCampus had received the necessary accreditation and encouraged prospective applicants to visit the eCampus website for detailed information and admissions.
The Vice-Chancellor commended the University's Ad Hoc Committee led by Prof. Moses Jojo Eghan and Prof. Anokye Mohammed Adam for spearheading the implementation of the project, acknowledging their commitment and hard work in bringing the initiative to fruition.
Prof. Aheto explained that the eCampus programmes would be administered under the College of Distance Education. He assured stakeholders that the initiative was intended to complement the University's existing regular, sandwich and distance education programmes, rather than replace them.
"The University will continue to run its regular, sandwich and distance education programmes alongside the eCampus platform," he said, adding that the first cohort of students would begin lectures in October 2026.
The Chief Executive Officer of Astria Learning, Dr. Jeff Bordes, said the organisation was proud to partner with UCC to deliver flexible, world-class online education to professionals across Ghana and beyond.
He observed that rapid technological advancement was transforming the global labour market and making continuous learning and skills upgrading indispensable.
"The programmes are designed to equip learners with practical, future-ready competencies needed to thrive in an ever-evolving world," he said.
Dr. Bordes noted that although Astria Learning had collaborated with several universities in East Africa and engaged numerous institutions across West Africa, UCC distinguished itself through its visionary leadership and commitment to innovation.
"When it comes to UCC, one thing that really stood out for me is not just the credentials, nor the people, or what it stands for, but the team behind the institution," he remarked.
He further stated that the programmes had been carefully designed to meet the realities of today's learners.
Dr. Bordes expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management for their confidence in Astria Learning and their commitment to expanding access to quality higher education through the eCampus initiative.
