A delegation from the  United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Ghana has paid a courtesy call to the acting Provost of the College of Education Studies (CES), Prof. Douglas D. Agyei.

The visit formed part of measures to strengthen collaboration between the College and UNICEF to ensure inclusive education in the country.

The delegation led by an Education Specialist at UNICEF, Mr. Christopher Nkrumah, also included UNICEF Ghana’s Education Officer, Mrs. Rhoda Enchill.

At the meeting¸ Mr. Nkrumah catalogued three key policies of UNICEF, including inclusive education policy, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

He indicated that UNICEF would depend on the College to provide research evidence to inform policy decisions.

Delegation from both sides during the meeting

"I believe UCC is well-placed to partner with UNICEF Ghana to achieve its mandate in inclusive education to achieve learning outcomes. There are a lot of synergies that we can work on in projects. So, it will be a win-win situation to address some of the gaps that exist in the educational sector," he added.

Prof. Agyei expressed his gratitude to the delegation for the reinforced commitment of UNICEF in ensuring inclusive education.

He said the College had many areas it would like to partner UNICEF in and mentioned Departments and Centres under the Faculty of Educational Foundations that aligned with the activities of UNICEF.

The Provost assured the delegation that the College would work with UNICEF to improve education in the country.
