The Centre for Entrepreneurship and Small Enterprise Development (CESED), UCC, has organised a training workshop for facilitators on the University-wide Entrepreneurship Course. Acknowledging the relevance of the programme, the Head, CESD, Dr. (Mrs.) Mavis S. Benneh Mensah, said the aims of this workshop are to engage the Entrepreneurship Facilitators on the University-wide Entrepreneurship Course by taking them through the basic training to ensure that we are all on the same level of in terms delivery of course contents, and more importantly, to achieve the purpose for which the course was set. She indicated that the workshop would also help to update new facilitators on the programme to understand the concept of the course and methods (pedagogy and andragogy) to deliver the course. Dr. Benneh Mensah explained that discussions would be based on the contents, evaluation and assessment of the course. “Review of contents for the update will also be deliberated on basis of the feedback from students and the demand of the job market,” she noted. Dr. Benneh Mensah urged the Facilitators to cooperate, contribute, and express their views to the success of the programme so as to get updated on the current teaching methods, evaluation and assessment systems. “Entrepreneurship is unique in terms of the purpose for teaching it, and we teach it mainly with the aim of preparing the student to be ready for the job market as well as to consider self-employment as possible carrier option,” she said. The Head added that in preparing students for the job market, it would require that they were entrepreneurial. She explained that the workshop was organised to share innovative ideas for teaching and assessing entrepreneurship; therefore, it would be good to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit in the students to start their own business as when given the resources.
