Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension Honours Prof. Kiho Yoon

The Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension has held a ceremony in honour of Prof. Kiho Yoon, a visiting professor at the Department.
The event was in recognition of his professional advice and contributions to the Department for the past year as a visiting lecturer.
Gratitude to Prof Yoon
In his remarks, the Provost of the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, Prof. Livingstone K. Sam-Amoah, extolled Prof. Yoon for the cordial relationship he had with lecturers and students during his period of service with the Department. He said the entire College and for that matter, the Department was grateful for his immeasurable contributions to promote Agri-business in the University.
The Head of Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, Prof. Festus Annor- Frempong, said the Department in its quest to make its Agri-business programme unique applied for an expert from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Prof. YOON was released to them in 2018. He noted that Prof. Yoon delivered lectures on various aspects of Agri-business and motivating students.
Prof. Annor-Frempong said the Korean government was going to develop rice value change project in the Central Region later in 2019. “By the kind courtesy of Prof. YOON, UCC will get a fair share of the project in the economics and training aspect of the project” He reported that a lecturer from the Department was awarded fellowship to travel to Korea Institute for Development Strategy. “Through Prof. Yoon, we now have an inroad into Korea to learn how Agriculture has developed and once we have him here, the eyes of Korea is here”,” he stated.
Prof. Annor-Frempong noted though Prof. Yoon was leaving, the Department would forever be grateful to him for the footprint he had left behind. “Though you are leaving us, we know the strong bond between you and the Department will still continue,” he said.
UCC is Pursuing Internationalisation
The Dean of the Centre for International Education (CIE), Prof. Rosemond Boohene, averred that Prof. Yoon’s service at UCC was in the spirit of the Internationalisation agenda of the University. “The world is now a global village and we have all become global citizens and global students” she observed. She noted that such collaborations called for observation and reflections adding that “it is an opportunity to learn best practices and therefore it is a family and good relationship we are building”
Prof. Boohene noted that the University was ready to partner him and organisations within and outside Korea for joint projects, staff and students exchanges and other areas of cooperation.
On behalf of the Department, the Dean of the School of Agriculture, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako, presented a citation to Prof. Yoon and his wife. They were also presented Ghanaian clothing.
On his part, Prof. Yoon thanked the Department for the honour done him and assured of his commitment to partner them to promote Agri-business. He also shared his experiences with the staff and students present at the event. As a departing gift, Prof. Yoon presented two projectors with screens and two laptops to the Department.
