The Kwame Nkrumah Hall (KNH) has launched its 20th anniversary celebrations. The launch, which was on the theme: “20 Years as a Model University Hall of Residence: Broadening the Horizon”, also saw the inauguration of the Planning Committee, under the chairmanship of Mr. Joseph C. Sefenu, an Assistant Deputy Registrar at the School of Graduate Studies. Speaking at the launch, Prof. Atta Britwum, recounted that the hall started with graduate students as residence. He noted that it was under the leadership of Mr. Sefanu that the Hall adopted Kwame Nkrumah as its name. Prof. Britwum seized the chance to extol the remarkable achievements of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in the development of Ghana and Africa at large. "Dr. Kwame Nkrumah remains an icon certainly of the premium history of Africa and particularly the premium history of Ghana. His achievements in the development of physical infrastructure and cultural development for the moment remains unequalled,” said Prof. Mr. Britwum, who is the first Hall Master. He revealed that the title Osagyefo was conferred on Dr. Kwame Nkrumah by Prempeh II through an Act of Parliament. He urged the current crop of hall residents and affiliates not to compromise the values of the Hall. He appealed to members of the University community to support activities lined-up for the upcoming anniversary. In his remarks, Hall Master, Mr. David C. Adukpo, commended staff of the Hall for their dedication, selflessness, commitment and hard work. He appealed to stakeholders to come on board to make the forthcoming anniversary a success. "As we start this process, I want to invite all of us to come on board to join hands with the planning committee, chaired by Mr. Sefenu, to ensure that come next year March, we would have a grand celebration. The process is going to be set into motion today," he stated. Mr. Adukpo commended the Cadet and the KNH Regimental Band for their excellent performance. "It is quite excellent and I want to salute the men who have displayed this morning gallantly. The men who have displayed excellently this morning beyond our expectations. We want to declare this morning that, you've proven to us that indeed you're always battle ready," he added. As part of activities for the programme, Prof. Atta Britwum, along with Mr. Adukpo, cut a three-tier cake to officially launch the 20th anniversary, which will take place in March 2018. The slogan chosen for the anniversary is “KNH at 20: Taking Over”.
