The Managing Director of the Sasakawa Africa Fund for Extension Education, Dr. Deola Naibakelao has called on the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. George K. T. Oduro in his office. Dr. Naibakelao who is based in Ethiopia is in Ghana to visit some projects of the Fund as well as follow up on two important assignments and decided to call on the Pro-Vice-Chancellor to announce his presence in the university.He said the University of Cape Coast was currently leading in the development of an agri-business proposal, which would serve as a model for other countries. He also indicated that a case study was being undertaken to find out why the enrolment at the diploma level at the Kwadaso Agricultural College was declining. Dr. Naibakelao commended the University for expanding the work of the Fund and added that “there are currently 21 projects in both universities and colleges in nine countries around the world.” Welcoming his guest, Prof. Oduro said it was commendable that the seed that was sown in Cape Coast has blossomed to serve humanity. He added that “it has made a lot of impact because a lot of people have received training in various fields of agriculture”. The Pro-Vice-Chancellor asked to also expand their scope of the project to cover other sectors of the University saying, “Think of the university from other perspectives too, post-harvest management is one area the university can position itself in”. He thanked the Dean of the School of Agriculture and his team for their commitment and expansion of the project. The Dean, School of Agriculture, Prof. L. K. Sam-Amoah, Prof. Festus Annoh-Frimpong and Dr. William Ghartey accompanied Dr. Naibakelao on his visit. Also present during the visit was the registrar, Mr. John Kofi Nyan.
