Patrons Laud UCC Academia-Industry Research and Innovation Fair

Patrons of the Academia-Industry Research and Innovation Fair organised by the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have expressed satisfaction with the programme which ended on Thursday, July 27,2023.

The two-day fair, was held by the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Consultancy (DRIC) in collaboration with the Design Thinking and Innovation Hub (D-Hub)  under the theme, "Accelerating Progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in partnership with Industry."

Some of the products on exhibition were make-up and skin care products, hibiscus juice locally known as ‘sobolo’, natural fruit juices, hair,  electronics and telecommunication products, amongst others

Activities lined up for the fair included needs assessment forum with key stakeholders from varied industries for each of the five colleges in the University, as well as idea challenge which was a platform for industry players to scout innovative ideas from students. 

The exhibitors came from all over the country to exhibit their products.

Some exhibitors from the Department of Physics at UCC showcased the latest technology, including traffic light, among others, that would  ultimately help develop the country through the manufacturing industry.

A cross-section of  exhibitors University reporters interacted with at the fair  expressed gratitude to UCC for the rich platform to exhibit their  products.

Madam Philomena Annan, an exhibitor, who traded in haircare products, said the patronage was high and commended DRIC and D-Hub for the initiative.

A sea of patrons were also  seen visiting exhibition booths to examine products on display, especially the UCC-Early Cowpea variety released by the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of UCC.

Master Osei Yaw, a Level 200 Nursing student, who was seen at one of the stands, said  he attended the fair to network and also purchase natural fruit juice from the Yiba Fresh company.

Mrs. Cythia Osei, a staff member of Adisadel College, observed that she heard the announcement of the fair on ATL FM and took advantage to see at firsthand products on display.
