Rose Yeboah, a student of the University of Cape Coast successfully set a personal best record in the high jump clearing the bar at 1.74m to record UCC's first gold medal in the African Universities Olympic games in Egypt.

UCC participated in the maiden edition of the African Universities Olympics Games in Egypt. About 30 universities from Africa including the University of Ghana and the University for Development Studies participated in the one-week competition.
