School of Allied Health Sciences Receives Lab Coats

The School of Allied Health Sciences at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has received a donation of 20 laboratory coats from Ms. LJ Garfield, a doctoral student at the University of Houston (UH), United States of America.

The Laboratory coats were donated to support practical training and enhance the professional development of future healthcare professionals through improved access to essential learning resources.

They are expected to strengthen students’ learning experiences by supporting practical sessions and clinical skills development. Laboratory attire remains an important component of health sciences education, promoting professionalism, safety, and infection prevention during laboratory and clinical activities.

Ms. Garfield, presenting the items, said the gesture was driven by her commitment to international collaboration and research.

“This donation reflects my commitment to international collaboration and research. I hope students have additional access to resources they need to succeed in their academic and professional journeys,” she stated.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the School, the Dean, Prof. Desmond Omane Acheampong, thanked Ms. Garfield for the kind gesture and assured her that the laboratory coats would be put to effective use.

He noted that the School of Allied Health Sciences remained committed to providing quality education and training for future healthcare leaders, while welcoming partnerships that contribute to student success and workforce development.

The Dean further expressed optimism that the collaboration with Ms. Garfield would promote research and scholarship, while enhancing the visibility of the University of Cape Coast on the global academic stage.
