A three-member delegation from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) branch of the Senior Staff Association–Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) has paid a courtesy call on the Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Christine Adu-Yeboah, to congratulate her on her appointment and discuss issues affecting the association’s members.
The delegation, led by the Chairman of SSA-UoG, UCC Branch, Mr. Christopher Aggrey, comprised the Women’s Commissioner, Mrs. Winifred Twenewaa Addaney, and an executive member, Mr. Alfred Adongo.
Mr. Aggrey congratulated Prof. Adu-Yeboah on her appointment and pledged the association’s support and readiness to collaborate with management to enhance the University’s development.
He, however, raised several concerns affecting members of the Association and appealed to the Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor to use her good offices to help address them.
Among the issues raised were promotion, the recruitment of additional health personnel to augment staffing at the UCC Hospital, and the need for representation from SSA-UCC on the University Council.
Mr. Aggrey said addressing these concerns would improve staff welfare to create a conducive working environment for members to contribute to the University's development.
Responding, the Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor expressed her gratitude to the delegation for the visit and commended the leadership of the association for its continued engagement with management.
Prof. Adu-Yeboah assured the delegation that she would use her good offices to address the concerns raised, particularly those that fell within her remit.
She further indicated that her office would work closely with the leadership of SSA-UoG, UCC Branch, to promote collaboration and support the achievement of the University's vision.
She emphasised the importance of constructive engagement between management and staff associations to address challenges and advance the interests of the University.
