The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, has paid a courtesy call on the Central Regional Minister, Mr. Kwamena Duncan at his office at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC). The Vice-Chancellor, who was accompanied by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. George K. T. Oduro, the Registrar, Mr. John Kofi Nyan, the Director of Academic Affairs, Mr. Jeff T. Onyame, Ag. Director of Public Affairs, Maj. (retd) Kofi Baah-Bentum and Assistant Registrar at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Mrs. Georgina Asi Owusu, said they deemed it fit to call on him to congratulate and wish him well on his appointment as the Regional Minister. Prof. Ampiah indicated that the University ceded part of its land for the construction of the new Cape Coast stadium and it was agreed that RCC would also help to construct ten kilometers of roads on campus. “The time has come for this promise to be redeemed, and I believe it will be a big achievement and you will be remembered for a long time to come,” the Vice-Chancellor requested. In his response, the Regional Minister noted that UCC constituted a huge resource for the region so for the region to succeed it has to look at the direction of the University. “If the RCC had looked at UCC in terms of our development, it would not have been at where it is today”. The Regional Minister said he would impress on the Department of Urban Roads to consider the request to have the roads on campus tarred, adding “You have taken it deep into my bosom, I will see what could be done about it”. He gave the assurance that he would make it a point to attend events organised by the University since he was always happy to see people add value to themselves. He, in turn, congratulated both the Vice–Chancellor and Pro-Vice- Chancellor on their respective appointments, saying, “You are all men of substance, whatever we have to do to support you, we will do”.
