The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, has led a high-powered delegation to the Canadian High Commission in Ghana as part of efforts to strengthen institutional ties and explore new areas of collaboration.

The visit formed part of the Vice-Chancellor’s broader strategy to foster partnerships between UCC and Canadian institutions, with a focus on advancing academic cooperation, research, and exchange programmes.

Welcoming the team, Mr. Waqas Yousafzai, Counsellor (Commercial) and Senior Trade Commissioner at the High Commission, expressed delight at receiving the delegation and underscored Canada’s interest in exploring mutually beneficial opportunities with UCC.

During the engagement, two presentations were delivered by the UCC delegation.

The Dean of the Office of International Relations, Prof. Bert Boadi-Kusi, highlighted the current state of the University, existing collaborations with Canadian institutions, and ongoing projects supported by Canadian funding. The presentations further outlined potential areas of cooperation, ranging from research partnerships to academic exchanges.

In response, Mr. Yousafzai assured the delegation that the High Commission would facilitate contact with Canadian institutions aligned with University’s proposals.

He also indicated that the Commission could assist by providing referral letters to the visa section to ease administrative processes for academic exchanges.

Prof. Boampong expressed his deep appreciation to the Canadian High Commission for the warm reception and reaffirmed UCC’s commitment to building stronger global partnerships that will enhance the University’s international profile.
