The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Denis Aheto, has undertaken a day’s familiarisation visit to the University of Cape Coast School of Medical Sciences to acquaint himself with the operations and challenges there.

Prof. Aheto toured various facilities, including lecture halls and laboratories, to assess their quality first-hand.

The Dean of SMS, Prof. Sebastian Eliason, accompanied the Acting Vice-Chancellor throughout the tour and provided detailed information on the School's programmes and initiatives. He raised important concerns regarding the School's human resource deficit and the lack of adequate lecture hall space. He also noted the increasing pressure on admissions.

Prof. Denis Aheto, in turn, expressed deep concern for the School's progress and outlined several initiatives already in motion. These include plans to complete stalled projects and expand the School's facilities.

He, however, emphasized the need to pursue Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) to address the University's current financial constraints.

In attendance at the meeting were Heads of Department and Coordinators of SMS, the Director, and some staff from the Directorate of Physical Development and Estate Management (DPDEM).
