Ag Vice-Chancellor Receives Access Bank Delegation

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. Denis Aheto, has held a meeting at his office with a delegation from Access Bank Ghana Plc led by the Group Head of SME Banking, Mr. Jones Darmoe to discuss ways of strengthening the partnership between the Bank and the University.

They also exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, with particular focus on how the bank could support infrastructure developments, including putting up hostel facilities on campus, judging by its track record at the University of Professional Studies, among other public universities.

Mr. Darmoe indicated the readiness of the bank to have a branch on campus. He indicated that education remained one of Access Bank’s key focus areas, alongside health and religion, which the Bank considers critical pillars of the economy.

He emphasised the Bank’s commitment to supporting institutions that contribute to national development, stating that investment in education was an investment in the future.

Both sides underscored the importance of a win- win partnership in a manner that serves the interests of both institutions.

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Aheto said UCC was ready to collaborate with Access Bank.

He stressed that the University was ready to partner with the bank in areas such as buildings for the School of Medical Sciences, School of Sustainable Engineering, Faculty of Law, hostels, lecture halls, among others.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism that the bank would take advantage of the partnership to make its presence known on campus.

Present at the meeting were Ms. Katherine Ampomah, Head, SME Sector;  and Mrs. Perpetual Meg Annan, Sector Head, Education.
