Emmanuel Acheampong Nana Adjei has been elected as the 64th Students' Representative Council (SRC) President of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) after securing a win in the student elections.
He polled 7,001 votes, representing 53.2% of valid votes cast, to beat his closest contender, Richard Agyemang, who secured 6039 votes.
Regina Yayra Adenyo is the Vice-President elect.
Benedicta Tiwaa Danso surmounted the challenge from Hawawu Abdulai Kiejembu to win the Secretary position with 36514 votes, while the other contestant had 6386.
Nuhu Dauda had 7831 votes to win the Treasurer position when he beat Isaac Aidoo and Emmanuel Wonders Koku, who also polled 2972 and 2174 votes, respectively.
SRC PRO went to Elisha Mensah Kojo Jnr who secured 7937 votes, against Gideon Kwadwo Adade and Eric Darlington Anku with 2579 and 2171 votes respectively.
Also the Cordinating Secretary position went to Adwoa Asima Agbehiam who obtained 4761 votes while Winnifred Cobbinah, Bridget Amoah and Ernestina Netty secured 4719, 2025 and 1391 votes respectfully.
For General Sports Secretary position, Emmanuel Essel beat Felix Kwabla Akpakli after he polled 9605 as against 2738.
Christabel Adjokatcher was elected unopposed as the Local NUGS Women’s Commissioner, while Samuel Adjei Anderson was elected as the Local NUGS President, polling 2600 votes against other five contestants.
Speaking after his victory, the President-Elect expressed gratitude to students for their confidence reposed in him and pledged to deliver on the promises outlined during his campaign.
He emphasized his commitment to advancing student welfare, improving academic support systems, and strengthening the voice of students in university governance.
