The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, UCC, Prof. Denis Aheto, has interacted with the members of the Recognising & Supporting Informal Health in Africa through Grassroots Interventions (REIMAGINE) Project.

The 30-month project forms part of a multi-national Medical Research Council (MRC) funded project on “Building an evidence base to support and enhance community health workers (CHWs) use of mobile phones in Ghana, Malawi and Ethiopia.

The Ghana Lead on the Project, Prof. Simon Mariwah, who led the Project Team Members, indicated that the members were in Ghana for the research and found it prudent to visit UCC.

He added that the Main Project started 20 years ago with Prof. Albert Abane.

For his part, Prof. Aheto welcomed the delegation and commended them for their resilience in the project.

He urged them to institutionalise the activities of the project on campus so that when the project ends, its footprint would be noticeable.

The Project members are from the University of Durham, UK; Sheffield Hallam University, UK; University of Gondar, Ethiopia and University of Malawi.
