An alumnus of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), currently based in the United States, Dr. Felix Kpogoh, has donated a collection of books to the Department of Ghanaian Languages and Linguistics to support teaching, learning and research.
The donation covers a wide range of subjects in Ghanaian Languages and Linguistics and are expected to serve as valuable resources for both students and faculty members.
Presenting the books on behalf of the donor, Prof. Emmanuel Amo Ofori, a faculty member of the Department, conveyed Dr. Kpogoh’s commitment to continue with more donations to help strengthen the Department’s library and enhance academic work.
According to Prof. Ofori, Dr. Kpogoh, who is currently undertaking a postdoctoral programme at the University of Rhode Island, was well aware of the knowledge and skills required by students in the Department.
His donation, therefore, reflects his desire to support their academic development and success.
Prof. Ofori expressed confidence that the books would significantly contribute to high-quality research and scholarship among both lecturers and students.
He further noted that investing in and enriching the Department’s library was essential to promoting a culture of knowledge, academic excellence, and intellectual growth.
The Head of Department, Dr. Vincent Erskine, expressed profound appreciation to Dr. Kpogoh for the timely and generous gesture.
“The Department comprises both Ghanaian Languages and Linguistics programmes. Apart from literature, much of the research in these fields focuses on language structure and usage. The materials donated will therefore be extremely beneficial to students and researchers in both areas,” he stated.
Dr. Erskine also encouraged students to make good use of the books to deepen their understanding of their disciplines, enhance their research capabilities, and achieve academic excellence.
