The Director of Projects at China Railway Construction Engineering Group (CRJE), Mr. Zhang Cuishan, has held a meeting with the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. Denis Worlanyo Aheto, to explore possible ways of putting up student accommodation on campus.

The meeting focused on identifying collaborative opportunities to address the growing demand for on-campus housing. With increasing student enrolment, the provision of adequate residential facilities has become a priority for the University.

As part of the engagement, CRJE presented a formal proposal outlining plans to develop modern accommodation infrastructure designed to enhance students’ living conditions and support effective academic work.

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Aheto underscored the importance of strategic partnerships in addressing infrastructure gaps at the University. He noted that “UCC remains committed to creating a conducive learning environment for students, and improving accommodation is central to that vision. We welcome partnerships that align with our standards and long-term development goals.”

On his part, Mr Zhang Cuishan expressed optimism about the proposed collaboration, stating that CRJE was well-positioned to deliver high-quality, sustainable infrastructure. “We are pleased to engage with UCC on this important initiative.

Our proposal reflects our commitment to providing modern, efficient, and durable student housing that will support academic excellence,” he said.

Upon approval, the proposal is expected to strengthen the partnership and significantly expand on-campus accommodation capacity, for the majority of students to access safe, decent housing while easing current accommodation challenges.
