The Acting Vice-Chancellor of University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. Denis Worlanyo Aheto, has received a delegation from University of Cincinnati as part of a working visit aimed at strengthening the long-standing partnership between the two institutions.

The collaboration between UCC and the University of Cincinnati, which spans over a decade, has grown into a robust academic partnership, promoting staff and student exchanges as well as joint research initiatives.

Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Aheto described the partnership as one of UCC’s most impactful international collaborations.

He noted that the relationship has thrived through sustained cultural exchanges and has expanded across multiple disciplines, including the humanities, engineering, science, and health sciences.

“This strategic collaboration has facilitated staff and student exchanges across several departments within the University,” he stated.

Prof. Aheto further disclosed that UCC would soon roll out a virtual campus, to offer a range of online academic programmes.

In that regard, he indicated that the University would explore the possibility of appointing adjunct professors from the University of Cincinnati to support teaching and research in the emerging digital space.

Leader of UC delegation, Prof. Raj Mehta commended UCC for its commitment to the partnership. Prof. Mehta explained that as part of the visit, the team would hold meetings with some faculties/schools and departments and also facilitate a workshop on UCC campus.

He noted that, over the years, the University of Cincinnati had consistently sent students to UCC under exchange programmes.

“UCC has been one of the most visited campuses for our students,” he said, adding that the collaboration was a reflection of the interconnected nature of higher education in a globalised world.

He further revealed that UCC was among a group of four institutions with which the University of Cincinnati had signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU).

Also speaking, the Registrar of UCC, Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye, Esq. reaffirmed the strength of the partnership and called for increased opportunities to enable more UCC students to participate in exchange programmes at the University of Cincinnati.

The visit is expected to further consolidate ties between the two universities and open new avenues for academic cooperation, research collaboration, and cross-cultural engagement.

The delegation from UC comprised Executive Director of International Strategic Partnerships, Jenni Kim; Senior Associate Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Littisha Bates; Dean, College of Arts and Sciences and a Professor of Chemistry, Dr. James Mack; Department Chair and Professor of Mathematics, UC Blue Ash, Gowribalan (Ana) Vamadeva.

The rest were Professor of Economics and Finance, University of Cincinnati Clermont, Dr. Prince Ellis and Assistant Director, Faculty Enrichment Center, Carol Tonge Mack.

Also present at the meeting were some Provosts, Deans and Heads of Department from UCC.
