The University of Cape Coast has held a matriculation ceremony for fresh students of the 2020/2021 Sandwich academic year. The ceremony saw a total of 559 undergraduates and 1019 postgraduate matriculants presented by Provosts of Colleges to be matriculated.
Addressing the matriculants, The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong congratulated them on securing a place in the University. He indicated that the matriculation ceremony marked the formal admission of students into the University and also provided students with the opportunity to pledge their absolute allegiance to the university authorities.
“In the University of Cape Coast, our lecturers, scholars, and researchers are dedicated to not only help you obtain that prestigious and enviable degree but also to help expand your understanding of the society and the world at large,” he added.
He urged the students to get acquainted with the University’s rules and regulations collated in the Students Handbook, Academic Programmes, Policies and Regulations, Brochure on Graduate Studies. “I wish to emphasize that these rules and regulations are not to punish you. They are meant to keep order and harmony in the University and make your life and stay here enjoyable.”
Prof. Boampong also advised them to attend their lectures regularly, be security conscious and also adhere to the traffic regulations on campus.
Administering the matriculation oath to the new students was the Registrar, Mr Jeff Teye Nyame.
Present at the ceremony was the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dora Edu-Buandoh, Provosts, Deans, Heads of Department and Heads of Hall, Members of Convocation, Matriculants, and the Media.
