The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Cape Coast, UCC, has launched its first Corporate Strategic Plan to guide the Council’s growth, digital transformation and long-term development.
The plan, which will guide the SRC over the next five years from 2026 to 2031, seeks to reinforce the Council's commitment to excellence and student impact.
The five-year vision is anchored on eight thematic pillars: sustainable infrastructure development, re-engineered student support services, promotion of academic excellence, building students’ competencies, leadership and governance, promoting student employability and entrepreneurship, strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagements.
The launch took place at the Academic Board Chamber and brought together management, staff, students and alumni of the University to witness and celebrate the milestone.
The Chairman of the Strategic Plan Committee, Professor Daniel Agyapong, who launched the document, described it as historic. He described the strategic plan as a blueprint for the SRC's transformation over the next five years.
He said the SRC had played a pivotal role in promoting student welfare, academic excellence, and vibrant student engagement at UCC.
“This five-year strategic plan reflects a considered, forward-looking approach to student governance, grounded in the principles of equity, inclusivity, and participatory leadership,” he said.
Prof. Agyapong observed that UCC had long recognized that an empowered and well-represented student body plays a significant role in the intellectual, social, and cultural development of our institution.
“The SRC, as the official organ of the student community, embodies these values through its commitment to service, advocacy, and leadership,” he continued.
He commended the SRC leadership and all members who contributed to the development of the Strategic Plan.
“Their dedication, vision, and commitment to advancing the student community are evident in the clarity and comprehensiveness of this document. I encourage students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders to engage actively with this plan, as its successful implementation requires the support and collaboration of the entire University community,” he indicated.
Presenting the strategic framework, Prof Agyapong said the idea behind the Strategic Plan was to streamline the activities of the SRC administration and to give subsequent administrations a focus and a roadmap for all SRC activities.
“This shall, to a greater extent, result in the efficient and effective use of resources, making student life more comfortable and exciting as they pursue academic excellence,” he added.
Prof. Agyapong said the vision of the SRC was to be a dynamic and student-centered body with global recognition for championing student welfare, leadership innovation, inclusivity, and academic excellence within and beyond the University community.
He urged members of the University community and the student body to ensure that the plan did not remain a document but became a guide for daily operations.
Alumni groups and the student leadership body also congratulated the University’s management and the Strategic Planning committee on a successful launch. They expressed hope that the plans in the document would be effectively implemented for the SRC’s progress.
The immediate past SRC President, Mr. Kwame Ntim Ntimamoah, in a remark, called on the student body to ensure that the Strategic Plan becomes the linchpin for the SRC’s forward march.
