The Vice President of Oceana Ghana, Ms. Sonia Kwami, has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. Denis Worlanyo Aheto, ahead of the launch of the Africa Ocean Institute (AOI) Alumni Network and Homecoming.

Ms. Kwami, who is expected to serve as the keynote speaker at the event, said the visit was necessary to engage with the Vice-Chancellor ahead of the programme.

She briefed the Vice-Chancellor on the activities, vision and mission of Oceana Ghana and commended the University for its efforts in advancing ocean-related research and education.

Ms. Kwami particularly praised UCC for establishing the Africa Ocean Institute, describing its launch as timely.

“It really excites me that UCC has initiated a lot of academic work around the ocean, and the launch of the Africa Ocean Institute came at the right time,” she said.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Aheto, thanked Ms. Kwami for the visit and congratulated her on her position as Vice President of Oceana Ghana.

He also commended Oceana for its contributions towards addressing marine and ocean-related issues in Africa and beyond.
